New Season Announcement: May – July 2026

Spring and Summer at Brixton House explores the rich history of storytelling in its many forms, inspired by the creativity and cultural legacy of South London’s diverse communities across generations, placing the Latinx diaspora, women and Windrush stories at its heart.

We’re continuing 2026 by announcing a new series of exciting events, workshops and activities that fling the doors open to invite the local community of South London, and beyond, to celebrate itself. Leaning into diasporic history, cultural traditions and storytelling methods passed down through generations, Brixton House continues to amplify diverse voices and deep community connection through theatre, music, poetry, comedy and dance.

From the humorous yet politically urgent production My Uncle Is Not Pablo Escobar spotlighting Latinx women from South London to Nine Sixteenths, putting the experience of Black women over 40 centre stage, main house co-productions continue to unravel stereotypes and challenge the status quo.

That energy continues, from Lines of Flight with cross-disciplinary live and visual art rooted in Latinx and Caribbean diasporic perspectives, to The Futurists, that seeks to honour the lived experiences, memories and cultural contributions of local Elders., and Apples and Snakes bring its legendary Jawdance for an electric season of performance poetry.

Following recognition at the Stage Awards 2026 for ‘Campaign of the Year’, Brixton House continues to deliver high quality arts and cultural experiences having recently been nominated for 5 OFFIES Awards for Black Power DeskTones and Limp Wrist & The Iron Fist, and 2026 is no different.

Brixton House is also continuing their support of emerging creatives by partnering with the family of Biyi Bándélé and Curtis Brown, to establish the Biyi Bándélé Bursary, a new initiative honouring the legacy of acclaimed Nigerian writer and filmmaker Biyi Bándélé.

“It was an honour to host the late Biyi Bándélé’s memorial in 2024 – it was an incredible evening celebrating the rich artistic life and community Biyi had cultivated. Writers of the future have a path that Biyi began paving for them, and we thought: what better way to celebrate this than with a bursary and supported programme to honour the legacy Biyi leaves us with? Finding new voices is as exciting now as it’s ever been, and Brixton House is delighted to share this new venture with Biyi’s family and Curtis Brown. I hope there are writers out there for whom this bursary can unlock some barriers.”

Ruth Hawkins, Executive Creative Producer

Brixton House will continue its partnership work and community collaborations led by local residents, creative entrepreneurs, associate companies and artists who reflect and represent the experiences of local people. They have been fundamental to reaching audiences from the local neighbourhood, across London boroughs, regionally and internationally.

“Whilst co-curating the Uprising Festival in 2025, I was fortunate to delve into the history of the generation represented in Good Neighbours – their lives and journeys have been so integral to our lived experience today as black and brown people in the UK. The Futurists brings our elders out of the archive and places them as the front runners and visionaries of our future.”

Danny Bailey, Producer
