Young Storytellers Project

National Theatre Wales, in association with Brixton House, have produced the Young Storytellers project, where young people aged 16 to 25 created audio portraits of people within their local community.

This project is inspired by the themes of Circle of Fifths, an immersive theatre experience celebrating life in death playing at Brixton House from 17 – 20 January 2024 as part of its national tour. This intergenerational photography and audio project will culminate in an exhibition on display in our Foyer.

The audio portraits were created with the young people of the Glow Project, in partnership with Marcus Lipton Youth Centre, and local elders group Stockwell Good Neighbours during a one-day creative workshop with BAFTA Cymru-nominated documentary filmmaker Jay Bedwani and presenter, photographer and TEAM assistant Ellen Thomas.

Conversations ranged from Ruby and Eleithia discovering a shared love of Tom Jones, to how Gospel Music communicates Daphne’s faith, to recollections of Anne’s record shopping in Brixton.

Find out more about the process of the project and audio stories collected as Circle of Fifths tours nationally.

Book tickets to watch the immersive show Circle of Fifths and then take the opportunity to visit the exhibition (free entry).

Special thanks is given to Lesley Allen and our Creative Engagement team for their support during the Young Storytellers project.
