Housemates 2024: How British Eres Tu?

2 October-5 October

Have you ever imagined exactly just what your level of Britishness might be?

Brixton House present

Description

Written and performed by Victor Rios.

A TV show-like show to test us “how British are we?”

Follow the life journey of a migrant who came from the high altitude of the Andes as a young person, embraced the cultural change in Brixton, and now is conflicted on how to identify himself. Is he Bolivian? Is he Latino? Is he British or what is he?

In this piece, Victor explores his journey of migration through cultural adaptation looking for answers on his own identity linking his memories of childhood, and exploring the usage of video mapping with brand new writing.

This interactive show significantly engages the audience and fosters a deep connection with the content where they will be tested on their Britishness.

So let the show begin!

★★★★★ “Thanks to Victor for the first time, I laughed thinking about pre-settle and settlement status: immigrants’ nightmare, mine included. He also explores the unfairness of citizenship exams where they asked questions that nor the British know! When he asked them to the public that was a palpable fright.” – Valeria Denegri, Harbour Magazine

“It was engaging to discuss his experience […] the mixture of film and narrative was amazing” – Audience Member

I loved it. I’m also international, and have heard so many people thinking about this UK test as absurd!! The funniest part was when he did the quiz! – Audience Member

Dynamic, funny and with that latin flavour in all senses’ – Audience Member
