Live music by La Chinaca and DJ sets by Amancai and AUKA.

Description

Movimientos

Movimientos is a live events/club promoter and programmer, music agency and label that is dedicated to bringing Latin American music in all its forms to the UK. Movimientos joins Casa this year, bringing us live music with La Chinaca and a DJ set by Amancai! Stay for more music and dancing as AUKA joins us for a DJ set, taking us late into the night.

La Chinaca

Agents of sonic futurity, drawing inspiration from Mexico’s infamous guerrilleros liberales (soldiers without uniform), La Chinaca use tropical rhythms to create a dystopian cumbiaverse full of fables guided by the future. Here is its prelude.

Movement, dance, and hedonism are all crucial to the La Chinaca ethos embodied in their first two singles, “Sin Titulo” and “Juegos Malosos” reflecting their love for warped Cumbia and an idiosyncratic lyrical sensibility.

Percussion and Vocals Diego Torres Cantú
Bass Rodrigo Matinez Torres
Vocals Naomi Larsson Piñeda
Guitars, synths and vocals Ian Taylor Muñoz

For live performances, they’re supported by:
Patiño on vocals, and Isabel Taylor, a Mexican singer and violinist.

Amancai

One of the premier DJs at the forefront of mixing Colombian Caribbean sounds with Afrobeats and a real  London influence.

DJ Amancai (a.k.a Andrea Penarete) is a Colombian artist, now settled in London. Her musical selection: Afro-Caribbean, Tropical sounds, Champeta, Cumbia, Electro Tropical, Afrobeats, and Latin Funk – a concoction of sounds that will give you the tastiest sancocho you’ve ever had!

Late Night Set by AUKA

AUKA’s DJ sets are an homage to the mighty continents of Africa, South America, and the beating heart of the diaspora, joining the dots between Pan-African and Latinx rhythms past and present to create a unique dancefloor experience that traces and celebrates connection, and the unbreakable spirit of the dance.

AUKA is the creative moniker of trombonist, DJ, audio-visual artist, and Colectiva founder, Viva Msimang. Born in London to Chilean, South African and Welsh family, her DJ sets are an homage to the mighty continents of Africa, South America, and the beating heart of the diaspora. AUKA is a regular feature on the underground club circuit, playing nights at the apex of the new Latinx club scene such as EPOKA, Popola, and Earthly Measures and joining line-ups at Lemon Lounge, NTs Loft, The Standard, Basket of Light, We Out Here and Glastonbury. She is currently a resident DJ at Art Otel, Battersea.
