Love & Lyrics

In February 2025, Brixton House was transformed into a hub of soulful melodies and heartfelt storytelling as we hosted Love & Lyrics. A night organised by Community Connector Michelle Killington, and Founder of clothing brand WRLD XYEN and Hip-Hop Artist JAGO XYEN, with support from freelance event producer and content creator Mya Hamidi-Jones, to celebrate love in all its forms through music, and networking. The event brought together an energetic mix of emerging local and established artists, captivating our audience with performances that ranged from intimate acoustic sets to powerful vocal showcases.

But Love & Lyrics wasn’t just about music—it was also a night of meaningful conversations. A standout moment of the evening was the Q&A session with award-winning actor and playwright Fredi Nwaka, pronounced Na-Warka who shared invaluable insights about his experiences within the creative industry.

Speaking with passion and sincerity, he highlighted the importance of storytelling, resilience in the arts, and the role of creativity in shaping communities. His words resonated deeply, particularly with young audience members eager to carve out their own paths in the industry.

At Brixton House, we believe in creating spaces that bridge the gap between successful local artists and the next generation of talent. Events like Love & Lyrics offer young people the chance to witness first-hand the journeys of those who have walked the path before them—demystifying success and making the creative industry feel more accessible.

The overwhelming response to Love & Lyrics reaffirms the need for more spaces where art, mentorship, and community collide. We’re committed to curating events that celebrate culture, champion emerging talent, and create opportunities for intergenerational dialogue—ensuring that Brixton remains a beacon for creative expression and connection.

Thank you to all the artists, audience members, and, of course, Fredi Nwaka for making this night one to remember. Stay tuned for more events that inspire, empower, and bring our community together!
