This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to give back to the House!
Brixton House is proud to announce our participation in Giving Tuesday – this is a first for our charity, and we hope we can rely on your support to make the Brixton House Giving Tuesday Campaign an outstanding success by donating to our House Fund now.
“This is an exciting new chapter for Brixton House as we reinforce our commitment to celebrate diversity, develop and showcase talent, and connect with the creative aspirations of local communities.” Delia Barker, CEO
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the last decade, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
In recent years you have been kind enough to support our work in delivering high quality arts and cultural experiences for the people and communities of Lambeth. You may have bought tickets to one of our shows, attended an event, taken part in creative activities, or donated to help establish our charity as an influential cultural hub.
You have helped us to shine a creative spotlight on the diverse communities that represent our home in the heart of Brixton, strengthening our position as a leader in the cultural landscape of London, and raising our profile nationally and internationally. We could not have achieved any of this without your unwavering support.
We are clear about what we do and what we stand for:
- We amplify and uplift voices and perspectives often overlooked and underrepresented in mainstream funded culture.
- We ensure local communities have access to creative spaces and technical support in a welcoming and professional environment.
- We offer mentoring, training, and work experience for young people backstage, on stage, front of house and through special events and performance showcases.
- We boast a diverse staff team supported by a diverse board of trustees who reflect the communities we serve.
- We are driven by our commitment to empower our community and nurture them with an unparalleled level of care and respect.
See for yourself how the support you’ve already given has enabled us to achieve so much!
Help us celebrate diversity, support young creatives, and keep theatre accessible for our community by donating to our House Fund.
We know you understand the radical and transformative power of the performing arts when it is an authentic representation of people and their lived and shared experiences. Brixton House exists to empower those who might otherwise be unheard and excluded. Your donation will help us to continue delivering high quality arts and culture experiences for local people in ways that resonate with them.
“The pre-show meet and greet was a great touch, it grounded the whole night in community rather than formality. And that after party – pure connection. It felt like the show didn’t end on stage; it spilled into real conversation, real people, real perspectives. Brixton House has become one of those rare places that doesn’t just host culture it creates it.” Darnell Hipplewith, local resident and supporter of Brixton House

Since opening Brixton House in February 2022, more than 70,000 people have watched 250 shows – including award winning 5* productions, 1133 performances, festival showcases, and a wide range of arts and cultural events. More than 4,000 individuals have taken part in our creative engagement programme, alongside 2,000+ pupils from 22 local schools.
“The staging made a big impact and they felt saying they felt like they were in it / a part of it. Despite the difficult subject matter the students felt hopeful and inspired. I think seeing the show supported the students desire to be performers. None of the students had been to Brixton House before and many live close which was also a really good outcome.” Teacher, St Francis Xavier Sixth Form College

Our partnership work and community collaborations, led by local residents, creative entrepreneurs, associate companies and artists who reflect and represent the experiences of local people, have been fundamental to enabling us to reach hyper local audiences from neighbourhoods in Brixton in Lambeth, and across all London boroughs.
“Brixton House is more than just a theatre, it’s a space for community, creativity, and cultural exchange. South London is my home, and Brixton House embodies everything I love about this area – it’s diversity, vibrancy, and its spirit.” Levi Roots, Chair of Trustees
Make this Giving Tuesday the day you contribute to locally based arts and culture, share this with your friends and family, spread the word on your social networks, donate to our House Fund. With your support, Brixton House will continue to be a home of creativity and expression for everyone, from the strength of the Windrush Generation to the resilience of Queer communities, Brixton House represents activism, resistance, power, and love.
