Call out for new work

Our submission window is open from March–June 2025.

We are calling for stories that are representative of our vision: to amplify stories from Brixton and South London, with a focus on Black, Latinx and LGBTQ+ storytelling.

How do I apply?

  • Please read the submissions guide below and then complete the form to submit.
  • We have two types of submissions: you can either submit for a Open slot or apply for our Brixton Local slot.

If you have any questions about submissions, please email [email protected].

If you are wondering about Housemates Festival, we will open submissions for 2026 later in the year!

Submissions guide

Brixton Local slot
We have reserved a programming slot to celebrate and champion our local writers. If you are local to us, please select ‘Brixton Local slot’ when completing your submissions form.

Open slot
If you are not currently local to Brixton, please select ‘Open slot’ on the submissions form.

  • Ten-page script samples or pitches/decks.
  • Stories with a focus on Black, Latinx, Global Majority and LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Local stories from the UK with a special focus on Brixton and South London-based writers, artists and groups, or those reflective of our local communities.
  • Theatre, comedy, cabaret and more – multi-artform work ready for the stage.
  • Submissions can be either the first ten pages of a complete script or a 1-4 page project pitch.
  • A project pitch can be for an R&D (Research and Development) idea you would like to try, or any creative project you would like to tell us about.
  • You can be at any level with your work. We recommend someone you trust has read through your script sample before submitting.
  • We will accept one submission per person.
  • Your work must have a maximum cast of five characters. We are not able to stage productions with casts larger than five. Due to the scale and finances of the theatre, we would encourage between 1-4 characters for the best chance.
  • We are unable to accept resubmissions, sequels or remakes.
  • We recommend you familiarise yourself with our current and previous programmes to get an idea of what we look for.
  • We work in a programming cycle, so it depends on what other work is in the pipeline. If we feel your work is a great fit, we will offer slots that ensure a generous lead in time and base the offer on how it fits with the wider programme.
  • The timeline will also depend on the work that needs to be done dramaturgically before the work is ready.
  • We may programme multiple shows from the submission window.
  • We are a small team so while we aim to respond to everyone as soon as possible, a response may take up to three months after the submissions window closes.
  • If we feel your work might be a fit for Brixton House, we will initially invite you in for a chat with our team.
  • We are unable to give individual feedback to all submissions however, if you are applying for an Brixton Local slot, you’ll be invited to a meet and greet at Brixton House with some of the Creative Engagement team.
  • You can apply by clicking the button below.
  • The submissions window will close at 6pm, Monday 30 June 2025.
