Description

Our brand new Housemates panel talks bring together artists, producers, theatre-makers and industry leaders for a series of candid conversations exploring the ideas, challenges and opportunities shaping contemporary theatre today.

Hosted by Philip J Morris (Artistic Director of Trybe House Theatre), and featuring panellists Emmanuel Akwafo (writer of Limp Wrist & The Iron Fist, Housemates Festival 2024), Shakira Newton (writer of Things I Can Laugh About Now, Housemates Festival 2022) and Caitlin Barnett (choreographer of Comrades In The Dark, Housemates Festival 2022), In Conversation With… explores how playwrights respond to urgent issues without trapping their work in the moment. We’ll examine strategies to turn today’s headlines into stories with emotional, ethical and mythic depth – plays that resonate now and still speak to us decades later.

Designed to create space for connection, learning and exchange, these discussions offer audiences and artists the chance to hear directly from those making work, building careers and driving change across the creative industries. This conversation invites honest reflection on the realities of creating theatre in the current landscape.

Whether you’re an emerging artist looking to develop your practice, a theatre professional seeking new perspectives, or simply curious about how great work gets made, Housemates: In Conversation With… provide an opportunity to engage with the people and conversations shaping the future of the sector.
