Free drop-in family activities
Join us this summer for free creative family activities exploring the theme of uprising for all ages. Drop in anytime between 12pm-4pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays in August 2024 starting from 5 Aug.
Important information
- Register for free online or on the door.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Families are welcome to bring a packed lunch.
- Quiet space is available.
Tuesday 5 August & Wednesday 6 August
- Drop-in craft workshop – 12pm-4pm
- Combine collage, stitching and messages about change, love and activism
- Drop-in headdress-making workshop – 12pm-4pm
- Create a headdress honouring the powerful legacy of the Windrush Generation
- Drama workshop – From 12.15pm, 2pm and 3.15pm
- A bilingual (Spanish and English) workshop using storytelling, games, chants and crafts
Tuesday 12 August & Wednesday 13 August
- Drop-in making workshop, 12pm-4pm
- Learn about St. Lucian culture and learn how to speak up for yourself and others
- Drop-in craft workshop – 12pm-4pm
- Combine collage, stitching and messages about change, love and activism
- Drama workshop – From 12.15pm, 2pm and 3.15pm
- Drama-based games and activities including protest charades and building a sound machine
Tuesday 19 August & Wednesday 20 August
- Drop-in masquerade workshop, 12pm-4pm
- Get ready for Carnival by making your own headdress
- Drop-in making workshop – 12pm-4pm
- Create your own Freedom Banner—a personal or collective collage to express ideas of empowerment, resistance, identity and joy
- Dance workshop – From 12.15pm, 2pm and 3.15pm
- Learn the story of Caproles dance with the basic steps set to Afro-Andean rhythms
