Description
By Mojisola Adebayo
Directed by Gail Babb
Original Direction by Gail Babb and S. Ama Wray
At the centre is Mrs: an older woman who decides to launch herself into space in search of her lost orgasm. Her journey—funny, intimate and deeply human—is sparked by three encounters that open her world:
- Maryam, a young neighbour carrying a heavy secret
- Maxi, an ex-colleague with a gift that defies explanation
- Shahana, a woman who offers tenderness in a laundrette and asks nothing in return
Blending Afrofuturist African mythology, projected animation, live DJ performance and unforgettable storytelling, STARS is a powerful meditation on grief, pleasure and intergenerational healing. It holds space for Queer, intersex and feminist experiences with clarity, care and radical honesty.
With a soundtrack featuring Sun Ra, Jamila Woods, The Upsetters, Floating Points and more, STARS is a love letter to those who’ve ever been told they’re too much, or not enough – and a reminder that liberation can be found in the body.
